Mr. Kruzynski’s knowledge of the sterile compounding industry’s quality and regulatory requirements has made him a key thought leader in the field. A licensed pharmacist, his participation as an expert panelist on several American Society of Health-System Pharmacists work groups, including the AHSP Guidelines on Outsourcing Sterile Compounding Services and the ASHP Foundation Outsourcing Sterile Products Preparation Contractor Assessment Tool, helped enable the establishment of standards for IV preparation and quality score-carding of outsourcing operations. In 2013, he participated in many meetings on Capitol Hill, assisting with education and discussions with various committees (e.g. Senate –HELP, and House – Energy and Commerce) and congressional offices about the services of the outsourced sterile compounding industry, as the Washington legislators worked toward passage of the federal Drug Quality and Security Act (DQSA). This law created a new section of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (“503B”) in which the category “outsourcing facility” now requires registration with the FDA at the federal level.

Before joining PharMEDium in 2003, Mr. Kruzynski founded the COMPASS compounding program and led business development for Baxter Healthcare Corporation’s premixed drug program. He holds U.S. patents for unique label designs for IV compounded preparations.

Mr. Kruzynski is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy. He earned his MBA from the University of Chicago.

After successfully transitioning his role following the Express Scripts transaction in 2004, he went on to create Advanced Care Scripts in the fall of 2005. After experiencing explosive growth, he sold and transitioned the business to Omnicare, Inc. in late 2008. Applying his years of experience in the specialty pharmacy reimbursement and distribution channels, he co-founded AssistRx alongside Jeff Spafford.

In 1998, Mr. Spafford established OncoScripts, one of the first specialty pharmacies. OncoScripts developed a Chemotherapy Drug Management Model and contracted directly with large, national players. OncoScripts was soon acquired by CuraScript, a Florida-based specialty pharmacy whose primary focus is on managing specialty drugs on behalf of managed care payers. In 2001, Mr. Spafford relocated to central Florida and transitioned into his new role as Executive Vice President for CuraScript, in which he was responsible for sales and marketing.

In 2004, Mr. Spafford co-founded and served as President and CEO of Advanced Care Scripts. After three successful years, he sold the company and shifted management of the business to Omnicare. In 2009, he co-founded AssistRx. AssistRx is the leader in developing configurable, web-based software solutions that enable healthcare providers to efficiently exchange and track prescribing information for specialty medications, greatly improving patient access to therapy.

Mr. Spafford earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

As a co-founder of the company, he has a long-standing commitment to etectRx company values, digital pill technology and the market potential for the ID-Cap System. Eric continues to set the direction for etectRx technology, creating meaningful conversations with target collaborators on improving health data and creating unequivocal medication ingestion records.

Eric was previously the Senior Vice President of Development and Technical Operations for etectRx and led the team to FDA clearance for the ID-Cap System in December 2019. Outside of etectRx, Eric founded the Pelagic Group, an active consulting firm focused on advising STEM startups. He is also currently a mentor at the University of Florida and Carnegie Melon, providing advice and counsel in innovation and entrepreneurship accelerator programs. Eric has served in executive roles with Intellon Corporation and Motorola earlier in his career.

Eric has a Master of Business Administration from Rollins College and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida. He holds three active US and International patents and multiple pending patients.
