Intelligent Incontinence Monitoring Partnership Established for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GAINESVILLE, Florida (March 13, 2025) – etectRx™, Inc., a leading digital health sensor company, is proud to announce its collaboration with Black Hills Works, initiating the first eBrief™ Early Adopter Program (EAP) partnership for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This groundbreaking partnership will introduce the eBrief system in seven of Black Hills Works’ homes beginning in Spring 2025, with plans to expand to five additional homes later in the year.
Black Hills Works serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with participants ranging in age from 24 years old up through their 80s and 90s. They provide an array of services in Rapid City, South Dakota, where participants can live, work, play, and achieve a life of full potential. By adopting the eBrief System, the organization is leveraging novel technology to better assist participants with incontinence, aiming to improve care through real-time moisture alerts.
Driving this innovative initiative are Tammy Murner, Black Hills Works’ Director of Innovation and Assistive Technology, and Lissa Marotz, Black Hills Works’ Assistive Technology Tech. “The eBrief System will significantly enhance participant care by minimizing the risk of adverse health effects,” remarked Tammy and Lissa. “Additionally, it will uphold the dignity of our participants by reducing the need for unnecessary incontinence checks.”
The eBrief System is designed to alleviate care burdens by offering real-time urinary incontinence monitoring through a discreet, battery-free moisture sensor embedded in incontinence products. The system notifies staff when a participant’s brief needs changing, enhancing both the care and dignity of participants and the efficiency of caregivers.
“We are proud to work with organizations like Black Hills Works who are dedicated to improving the lives of disabled individuals, ” said Eric Buffkin, President and CEO of etectRx. “Our collaboration with Black Hills Works highlights the need for innovative incontinence solutions across various healthcare sectors, and we look forward to seeing how our system positively impacts their participants.”
By incorporating the eBrief System, Black Hills Works is embracing innovative technology while reaffirming its dedication to preserving participant dignity and efficiency in care. This partnership marks a significant advancement in meeting the diverse needs of individuals experiencing incontinence, highlighting the importance of customized solutions across various community environments.
