University of Cape Town announces ID-Cap™ System acceptability study in South Africa. Mass General Brigham in collaboration with University of Cape Town is conducting a new research study to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a digital pill system for monitoring medication adherence in individuals with HIV-TB co-infection in South Africa. Adherence to medication regimens is critical for this population, but existing methods have limitations. The ID-Cap™ System addresses the challenge of consistent medication adherence and offers a precise solution by activating upon ingestion and transmitting adherence data to a cloud-based server, enhancing efficiency. The study also emphasizes the importance of understanding the target population’s perspectives and preferences to ensure the intervention’s real-world effectiveness. This research holds promise for improving medication adherence in a vulnerable patient group. More information on the South Africa acceptability study can be read here.
