Dr. Tony Christopher Carnes leads the etectRx™ information system strategy and architecture with more than 25 years of experience in information technology and fifteen issued patents covering various aspects of physiologic data capture, integration, analysis, and presentation. In his current role with etectRx, Dr. Carnes manages the quality assurance team and directs the development of the ID-Cap™ data management platform to ensure adherence information is distributed to the right recipients in a secure, timely and actionable manner.
Dr. Carnes has a storied history of leadership, having served as the president and co-founder of ICU Data Systems, where he and his team created Vital Sync, the first FDA-cleared clinical decision support medical device. He is also a former chief scientist at Covidien, one of the world’s largest medical companies, where he and his team received two of the company’s seven awards for innovation. As president and founder of Carnes Consulting, Dr. Carnes helped move many notable companies into the relational database world, including NASA, Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs, FCC, FedEx, Circuit City, and Superior Telecommunications.
Dr. Carnes holds a PhD and an MS in computer and information sciences from the University of Florida, where he also currently holds a courtesy appointment at their College of Engineering and a BS in mathematics and computer science from Hampden-Sydney College.
